A Wembley moment to Remember

A Wembley moment to Remember

Huge congratulations to our Trust Chaplain, Claire, who was invited to live out a childhood dream at Wembley Stadium after being recognised for her incredible contribution to grassroots football.

Claire was nominated for her work as both a coach and chaplain at Peacehaven & Telscombe Women's Walking Football and was one of just 28 volunteers from across the country chosen by The FA to take part in an exclusive match as part of the England Football Family programme.

From changing in the England dressing rooms to personalised kits, Claire enjoyed the full Wembley matchday experience.

Claire said: “Being able to play at Wembley was a childhood dream! I am so grateful for the opportunity of a lifetime and all the memories.”

Alongside her chaplaincy work at the Trust, Claire is a lifelong footballer and dedicated coach. She supports players at Peacehaven & Telscombe Women's Walking Football Club, helps young players grow in confidence, and is working towards her UEFA Level C coaching qualification.

Her passion is simple: “I believe that coaching and providing a high level of pastoral care enables players not only to reach their goals but establishes good mental and physical health and wellbeing. Whatever their goal may be - whether that's competing in a tournament or learning the basics of football for the very first time, I want each and every player to feel heard in their ambitions and also any fears and help them to overcome any obstacles. Everyone deserves the chance to play and be a part of such a fantastic team.”

Claire's commitment to supporting others whether through her chaplaincy work or her coaching in the community shines through in everything she does. This Wembley experience is a fitting and well earned acknowledgement of Claire's efforts.

Congratulations Claire - a true champion on and off the pitch.
